Intermediate Surf Camp in Pavones
An intermediate surf camp in Pavones is built around one wave: a long, forgiving left that keeps you riding far longer than a beach break would. More time on the face means more room to work on turns, speed and timing. If you can ride down the line and want coaching to push past a plateau, this trip is for you.

Why Pavones Suits Intermediates
Pavones breaks left off the point and can run for over a kilometre. One long wall gives you more turns per wave than ten short beach-break rides, so you get real repetition instead of a handful of pop-ups. On the right size it stays forgiving, which lets you commit to a turn without the wave punishing the mistake. Our Pavones surf guide has the full wave breakdown.
The Coaching
Coaching here targets the parts of surfing that stop improving on their own: choosing the right wave, sitting in the right spot, and using the bottom turn to set up everything after it. Coaches who surf this wave every week watch what you actually do. Most weeks include filmed sessions, broken down on the beach the same day, in small groups.

What's Included
A week at the camp covers:
See how the trips compare on our surf camp packages page.

How the Days Flow
Days run on the tide, not a fixed schedule:
When the wave calls for a different plan, the coaches make the call.
An early session while the wave is clean, before the wind turns onshore.
A rest through the midday heat.
A second session as the afternoon tide fills in, then a look at the footage that evening.
What Surfers Say
The coaching was exactly what I needed to take my surfing to the next level. I got a lot more out of each session than I usually do when surfing on my own.
Marcus T. · Australia
I really enjoyed having coaches who could give specific feedback instead of just telling me to paddle harder or catch more waves. After a few days, I felt noticeably more confident in bigger and more challenging conditions.
Claire D. · United States
The whole trip had a great balance between structured surf sessions and time to explore on my own. It was the kind of experience that made me want to keep working on my surfing after coming home.
Julien P. · France
Is This Your Level?
You will get the most from this week if you can paddle into unbroken waves and ride down the line under control. You do not need to be doing proper turns yet. That is what the coaching is for.
Still working out of the whitewater? Start with our beginner surf camp. Already surfing solid and after bigger, longer days rather than technical coaching? The Pavones surf expedition fits better.
Common Questions
What counts as intermediate here?
+
You can catch unbroken waves on your own, ride down the line, and you are ready to work on turns and speed.
How many surf sessions a day?
+
Usually two, set by the tide, with rest in between. Some days one longer session is the better call.
Is Pavones too heavy for me?
+
On an average day, no. It is a point break with a long, readable wall. On a big swell the coaches move the group to a spot that matches the level.
When should I come?
+
May to October brings the most consistent south swells. The drier months are smaller and cleaner.
